152 Lonetown Road Preserve
Check back in spring 2025…
Thank you to all our supporters for making the 2024 Summer Celebration at Col. Alfred McCormack Conservation Preserve a success!
For anyone who missed it, you can visit the preserve at your leisure and enjoy the forested half of the numbered plant walk. We hope you’ll join us next August for a very special 60th birthday celebration for the Redding Land Trust.
McCormack Preserve’s 238 acres, spanning Redding and Danbury, were donated by Robert C. McCormack and Winthrop L. McCormack in January 2019. After five final winters of hunting by Stamford Fish and Game Association, the public now has year-round access to nearly four miles of looped trails over Picketts Ridge and along the Saugatuck River.
McCormack Preserve Danbury Entrance:
30 East Starrs Plain Road, Danbury, CT
We recommend approaching from West Redding Road rather than Picketts Ridge Road, as the southern stretch of Starrs Plain/Starrs Ridge Road is twisty and narrow. Directions from West Redding:
Head north on Long Ridge Rd, passing the train station lot on your left.
Turn left at the four-way stop, onto West Redding Rd.
Continue a mile and a half, until the end, and turn left onto Starrs Plain Rd.
E Starrs Plain Rd is three-quarter miles south on the left.
